It is recognised that, although in some patients monarthritis is rheumatoid in nature and progresses to a typical polyarthritis, the prognosis in many is not at all clear. In this study we have examined the clinical, serological and radiological features of patients with monarthritis. have assessed the value of open biopsy, and have attempted to make a firm diagnosis when possible.
